Praxair Distribution Inc. - RMP and PSM Audit Support

Enpro prepared a RMP for facility storing ammonia, chlorine, liquid hydrogen, and other flammable gases. The RMP was prepared to satisfy USEPA's RMP Program, CalARP and OSHA-PSM standard.

process safety case studyWe reviewed HAZOP Study for hydrogen prepared by the facility.  Performed HAZOPs for ammonia, chlorine and trichlorosilane, with active participation from the plant operations personnel.  We performed OCA, WCS and ARS for each regulated chemical. Enpro also prepared a Prevention Program including Process Safety Information, Operating Procedures, Management of Change and other required Program elements. The RMP and the plant's emergency response program were prepared in close coordination with and approved by Contra Costa County.

We also helped the client assemble documentation and resolve auditor questions/comments during a 3-week Cal-ARP program audit of their facility.


Columbus Foods, Hayward, California - HAZOP and MOC/PSSR review for Ammonia Refrigeration System Expansion

In 2010 Mr. Qadir led a Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP) during the expansion of the facility’s refrigeration system. During a major modification, five new evaporator air units were added to the existing ammonia refrigeration system with associated new piping, valves and process control systems. Mr. Qadir helped the facility conduct the PHA; and document MOC and PSR review procedures for the plant modifications in compliance with requirements of the federal RMP Program and the CalARP Program.


Multi-Chem Group, LLC – Air Emissions Modeling and HAZOP

As a sub-consultant to the Denali Group, from October 2008 through 2010, Mr. Qadir has contributed to RMPs for acrolein storage facilities in New Iberia, Louisiana and Denver City, Texas. He conducted thermodynamic modeling of various accidental release scenarios to estimate acrolein emissions for use as input for air dispersion modeling. He performed process design calculations for a scrubber system to control acrolein emissions during purging and filling operations. Mac participated in a HAZOP analyzing acrolein processes at the Denver City facility including storage container purging, filling and cleaning.
